چکیده

ames. The models differ in their kinetic mechanisms, i.e. one-step and two-step chainbranching reaction schemes are considered here. It is shown that in these models there exists a variety of dynamical regimes of nonlinear wave propagation depending on the control parameters. These regimes include travelling waves, pulsating periodic waves, pulsating waves emerging due to the period-doubling bifurcations, chaotic waves and transient chaotic modes of ame propagation. The existence of the chaotic transient behaviour leads to different effects for the propagation of premixed combustion waves depending on the kinetic mechanism considered. In the case of the one-step adiabatic ames, this behaviour results in the formation of complex chaotic dynamics whereas in the case of the two-step chain branching model it is responsible for the extinction of the combustion waves via the chaotic transient route. Prospects for further investigations are also outlined.

Pulsating Instabilities of Combustion Waves in a Chain-Branching Reaction Model

In this paper we investigate the properties and linear stability of travelling premixed combustion waves and the formation of pulsating combustion waves in a model with two-step chain-branching reaction mechanism. These calculations are undertaken in the adiabatic limit, in one spatial dimension and for the case of arbitrary Lewis numbers for fuel and radicals. It is shown that the Lewis number...

Investigation of Flame Propagation in a Model with Competing Exothermic Reactions

We consider a diffusional-thermal model with twostep competitive reactions for premixed combustion wave propagation in one spatial dimension. Numerical investigation of the flame speed of the system for different fuel types shows the existence of regions where two stable travelling combustion wave solutions co-exist solutions pertaining to the fast and slow branches. A hysteresis type phenomena...

Singular limit and homogenization for flame propagation in periodic excitable media

This paper is concerned with a class of singular equations modeling the combustion of premixed gas in periodic media. The model involves two parameters: the period of the medium |L| and a singular parameter ε related to the activation energy. The existence of pulsating travelling fronts for fixed ε and |L| was proved by H. Berestycki and F. Hamel in [BH]. In the present paper, we investigate th...

Pulsating instabilities in the Zeldovich-Liñán model

In this paper we numerically study the properties and stability of the travelling combustion waves in Zeldovich-Liñán model in the adiabatic limit in one-dimension. The structure and the properties of the combustion waves are found to be different for the fast and slow recombination regimes. The dependence of flame speed on the parameters of the model are studied in detail. The results are comp...

Pulsating Traveling Waves in the Singular Limit of a Reaction-diffusion System in Solid Combustion

We consider a coupled system of parabolic/ODE equations describing solid combustion. For a given rescaling of the reaction term (the high activation energy limit), we show that the limit solution solves a free boundary problem which is to our knowledge new. In the time-increasing case, the limit coincides with the Stefan problem with spatially inhomogeneous coefficients. In general it is a para...
